Some of the names are impossible to read on the sign up sheet, so if your name is misspelled don't get upset.
The Tournament started out a cluster and ended up a cluster, Randy Price broke down, no paper work of any kind for doing sign ups but Bill managed, Randy arrived at  about 9:30.  In the morning  high winds and rain  made things that much worse for everyone, everything got wet.  Too make things worse a lightning strike near the weigh in pavillion went bad when lightning jumped out  of an electrical outlet in the pavilion and literally lit up a couple people, (Randy Price and his partner)  no one was harmed though.

A special thanks to the lake bait shop for the biscuits and gravy, doughnuts and coffee, that the bait shop provided.  All contestants I'm sure appreciated it.  THANKS
A special thanks to the ALCOA store in Leon, Iowa for donating all those door prizes, everyone got some kind of door prize at the Tournament. THANKS
Rumors - hear there is another rumor out there, probably started by someone who cant fish - Rumor is that the Officials boats are not checked before the tourney starts. WELL ALL boats are checked, and if any contestant wants to check the Officials boats before the Tournament starts, they are more than welcome to.

Text Box: Big Lake Kids Fishing Contest

Sponsored by the Council Bluffs West End Optimist Club and Co Sponsored by the Iowa Drifters. Prizes and food for the event were donated by local area businesses.

Due to the threat of bad weather, turn out was down to 12 boys and 11 girls this year. The sky was clearing though and all threats of rain had disappeared buy 9am.

The renovation of Big Lake had been completed, but only small Blue Gills and Channel Cat had been stocked so far.  The Gills and Catfish were not in the mood to participate in the contest this year. The girls weighed in 2 fish and the boys weighed in 1 fish and 1 small turtle during the event. The main prize this year, as always was a new bicycle for the 1st Placement in the girls and the boys divisions.

Everyone had a good time and many prizes were drawn for. Hot dogs from the grill and drinks for the kids and adults were provided.
